Stargazing in our Dark Skies!
Visit Allenheads Observatory for organised stargazing events. It’s quick and easy to become a member of our local observatory.
Members of the public are welcome to use the free car park at Allendale Golf Club Dark Sky Discovery Site, which is recognised as a great place for amateur and professional astronomers to stargaze. With wide views of the horizon and a location away from the light pollution of towns and cities, the skies are incredibly dark. Under a clear night sky, the major constellations can be seen and the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye.
Wrap up warm and bring your binoculars or telescope, or look through those at Allenheads Observatory
